The Project

Specifics...

TrashTracker is an EpiCollect program created by students at SUNY Plattsburgh in an attempt to record the distribution of litter and help create awareness. The program can easily be installed and used on any Android or iPhone. Those without a mobile device can track trash using Google Forms to send in their own pictures and data.

When logging trash, the user will be prompted to provide information on a series of categories:

-Your name

-Town or city in which the data was or is being recorded

-The state

-Surrounding habitat (near a house, road, ditch etc.)

-Age of the trash (new or old)

-Material of the trash

-Evidence of animal scavenging

-Location of nearest trash can or recycling bin

-Did you pick the trash up?

This information is extremely helpful in tracking the waste disposal behaviors of human populations.

Information and data can be viewed on the EpiCollect website:
